And so the politicization of a tragedy ensues. A colleague of mine said something interesting, "I bet he played a lot of [first person shooter] video games...."
I wonder what the prevalence of such is in mass shootings. The ability to detach and "other" - in the context of dehumanising - one's victims must surely be enhanced by continuous repetition of shooting realistic facsimiles of people in video games.
But I don't suppose we'll be seeing calls for tighter restrictions on video game sales.
